CCC and Prosperity
Poverty has presented a challenge for human service providers in Muskegon County. In 2005, the CCC committed to look at cross-system solutions to address poverty in order to improve overall quality of life and enhance human services outcomes. This commitment led to the development of the Prosperity Continuum model. According to this model, integrating human services with employers and businesses in the community is necessary to ensure individuals and families receive the supports and acquire the skills in order to achieve financial stability, asset growth, and ultimately prosperity.

Sustainability
In March, 2007, the CCC joined the Muskegon Area Sustainability Coalition (MASC.) Sustainability is an approach to development that focuses on integrating and balancing social equity, economic prosperity and environmental integrity. The overall intent is to achieve long-term prosperity without sacrificing the assets and resources of future generations. As a MASC member, the CCC has provided leadership on issues related to Social Equity, and has been a key contributor to the development of the Prosperity Index. Prosperity Index
The Prosperity Index concept was developed by the CCC in early 2007. MASC members - including the CCC - approved the Index as a tool to track progress and guide actions in achieving sustainability. CCC representatives, along with representatives of the Environmental Integrity and Economic Prosperity sectors worked together to select indicators and collect data for the Prosperity Index.
